3D Morphis MovieRide Theatre, Steven F Udvar-Hazy Center, Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, USA
During 2003 The Steven F Udvar-Hazy Center, part of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, USA installed one of the first Morphis MovieRide Theatre simulators to feature the latest 3D visual technology.
Owned and operated by the world's largest owner/operator of AI Group simulation equipment, Pulseworks LLC of Atlanta, the simulator is enthralling visitors with the ridefilm Spacewalk 2004, a 3D tour around the International Space Station. Riders are provided with 3D glasses on entry to the machine to allow them to fully immerse themselves in the wonders of space flight.
To ensure authenticity of content and motion the ride, created by Stormfront Digital Pictures, and its associated simulator motion programme were produced in association with former Apollo Astronaut Dr David Scott.
The simulator has proved to be so popular that queuing time for the 4-minute 3D experience can range from 30-90 minutes during holidays and at weekends.
